Programmes for Women and their Impact: Plan of Action to Combat Sexual Exploitation of Women and Children
After independence, to make Indians further free from their own thinking, makers of constitution mentioned a great concept of fundamental rights in the constitution. This concept was introduced to ensure the freedom of Indians from the handcuffs of social injustice. One of such fundamental right included in the constitution was:- the right to accept any job as one’s profession, to earn the livelihood.Prior to independence, the problem was not limited to the colonial rule: the reason due to which an independent India was then converted into a dependent country was the main problem which was needed to be eliminated, from every society. Framers of constitution who were also Indians and were well experienced and were aware of the rituals, history & tradition of India were loaded with the responsibility of framing constitution: constitution is such a document which was framed to eradicate the reasons of dependency of India; moreover the responsibility on the loaded framers was extended to safeguard the traditions.
Thus, on analyzing the problem of society, the framers understood the problem: the problem was very old, it was initiated with a noble and a reluctant though, it was the division of society in class. thereafter, the classes bring into force their own terms and rules of religions. The problem starts from here, people started visualizing the job as an identity card of one’s religion.
From here the intra-group conflicts starts initiating silent fights, between such groups of society which are having equivalent status in the society. Thus, causes a common reason for conflict in whole India which benefitted colonials to divide India for the ruling.
Framers constructed such a constitution in which, such parts were involved and mentioned, which supports opting any profession, i.e. a shudra and a Brahmin are conferred with such rights which permits them to sit side-by-side and allows the shudra to do the same work as done by Brahmin. The same solution brings in front many other problems, one of them is the adoption by a girl the profession of the prostitute. The red light areas are widely criticized by society.
Prostitution is never accepted by willingly by a girl. The supreme court hence has passed several laws, in order to help those girls which desire to get out of this dirty profession; prostitutes are given money which a labor earns, they are conferred with such an image which no father wants to give to his daughter.
According to the orders of the supreme court’s judgment of 9th July 1997; many committees are made in order to prevent women trafficking, which is done in order to make a girl prostitute, forcibly. Certain rules are made which allow every child of a prostitute whether son or daughter, to attain education to the level till which he or she shall wish to have.
The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act or ITPA is a 1986 amendment of legislation passed in 1956 as a result of the signing by India of the UNO declaration in 1950 in New York on the suppression of trafficking. This amendment is also a symbol of efforts made by a government in the direction of saving girls.
