Anomie concept and meaning

It is “a condition in which society provides little moral guidance to individuals.” It is the fragmentation of either the society or community. Many times conflicts arise between the individual and the society due to which the individual distances itself from the society and in the society fail to give any moral guidance to the individual. A mismatch between the individual and society standards can also lead the individual from deranging or estrangement. Society should be a little flexible in treating its members because too much rigidity of laws and ideas also produce kind of anomie.
