  • Before the stones of this movement were laid down, most of the women of the mid-1800’s were in support of the men’s group.
  • Indeed everything comes with an exception and so this community. Not all women were an assistant to the church sponsored-aid societies.
  • They did an indeed excellent duty under the groups they were assigned with them but the only thing that was unacceptable was such organizations were under the sole control of men.
  • For leading this movement, they founded two groups namely Sorosis and New England in the year 1868.
  • The founder of the club Sorosis is a journalist Jane Cunningham Croly whereas the New England club is represented by Julian Ward Howe.
  • The representatives of this club worked hard towards spreading the importance of education for women and for bettering their role in the society, they traveled to a lot of places.
  • In these clubs, they were imparted specialized education in the study of law, music, the sciences etc.
  • Even though most of the members of this club were white-haired women, there were a few among them who had the reached for higher education in the times when educational opportunities for women was quite limited.
  • The foundation lessons of these clubs were basically in history or sometimes in literature.
  • They often debated on viral topics, had interesting speeches, and discussed the utmost importance of having kindergarten, libraries and the parks.
  • Eventually, a lot of clubs came into force which also gave the women a political voice.
